Dr Leonard Gomez Research and Business Development Manager, POIC Sabah Sdn Bhd

Dr. Lenn Gomes graduated with a degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Canterbury, Christchurch, New Zealand after which he spent some 12 years working with a number of companies in high-tech industries in California and Florida in the USA. During that time, he completed an MBA from California State Polytechnic University in Pomona. He later obtained a PhD from Florida International University in Miami specializing in business strategy and international business. He has some 12 years teaching experience at both graduate and undergraduate levels in the USA at Florida International University, University of Tampa (Florida), Montclair State University (New Jersey) and Towson University (Maryland). Besides his specialty areas he also taught courses in Entrepreneurship, International Management, Organizational Design and Principles of Management. He has published papers in leading academic journals, notably Journal of International Business Studies, Management International Review and International Business Review. He has also presented papers in academic conferences in the USA, Slovakia and Hungary. Dr. Gomes joined POIC Sabah Sdn Bhd in early 2006 to head the Research & Business Development Department and is the company’s senior representative to BIMP-EAGA (Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines – East ASEAN Growth Area). In these capacities, he has presented papers at seminars, conferences and workshops in Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Australia and Japan.
