Dr Tan Chun Knee
GEIC Project Coordinator, United Nations University, Japan

Tan Chun Knee has been involving in the earth observation field since 1997 when he was the Environmental Science graduate at University Putra Malaysia. After finishing his M. S. in GIS and Remote Sensing, he joined ESRI Malaysia as the GIS engineer. Later, he pursued his PhD in satellite oceanography at Nagasaki University in Japan. He joined the United Nations University in 2006 as the Project Coordinator at Global Environment Information Center (GEIC).

Tan has a wide research interest, for instance, the climate change, disaster, ocean color remote sensing, harmful algae bloom, community empowerment issues etc. His present researches are focus on Asia Pacific and Indian Ocean region. He has been actively providing satellite images, training and advice to the young scientist in the Southeast Asia region.
